Tatami Mat

• In the Japanese home, TATAMI mats are used as a surface for sitting, sleeping and walking on. The mats are composed of a thick rice straw, a soft natural reed and two borders of synthetic tape which protects the sides. Nowadays, Japanese have changed its material to fibre-board instead of rice straw as it is lighter and adapt to the humidity weather.
